The Basics of #BDSM Pet Play

Yes, it’s yet another aspect of BDSM play and it’s got a smaller following than that of the traditional Master/sub relationship, but it’s beginning to gain an impressive number of followers.

What is Pet Play?

It’s exactly as it sounds… in general, it will involve the submissive party acting out the part of an animal be it cat, dog, pony, pig, cow or anything in between. The more common ones are pony-girls/boys and puppy-play.

What does it involve?

It involves the submissive being treated as an animal, which basically means that all rights will be taken from him/her. Animals in real life are completely dependent upon their owner and in pet-play the same rules apply. The pet will be fed, watered, clothed (or not) and allowed to sleep or play dependent on the orders of their Master/Mistress.

What’s in it for the submissive?

  • Humiliation
  • Dependence
  • Restricted movement – via a pen or bondage
  • Loss of control
  • Loss of ‘humanity’ and the need to think for yourself
  • Punishment – if the submissive in question hates being treated as an animal, this technique can be employed to make sure they behave themselves!

What’s in it for the Dominant?

  • Complete control
  • Kinky sex
  • Can dress them in latex complete with ears etc. to emphasise their ‘animal’ status
  • The ‘animal’ is at their beck and call and will answer to their every whim
  • They can watch their submissive being in a position of utter dependence
  • Take all aspects of humanity away, including freedom of movement, speech, toileting arrangements etc.
  • Can make the submissive perform tricks for treats, beg, play with squeaky toys and change their eating methods – ie. Being fed titbits under the table, drinking water out of a bowl etc.
  • Can keep their animal in a cage and have others view them

So there’s the basics. There’s a lot of kink involved in this one – but it’s certainly getting more popular. Perhaps it’s one to explore when you’ve been on the scene for a little while and want to inject some excitement in your sex scenes, although for some, this is their whole ‘raison d’etre.’

Kinks… we’ve all got them… even if they’re only displayed in a hair follicle here or there…

  1. I have known about pony play for a long time, that aspect has been part of the scene for many years.
Pet play as you said has been around but not as much talked about or engaged in.
More and more it is coming to the forefront.
Is being a “furry” also part of this?
It does have some appealing aspects to it.

      • I think it is a combination of both. Since 50 Shades BDSM has moved more into the public eye so to speak. People are more aware of it. This makes people more apt to talk about it.
The flip side to that is people are beginning to explore their kink side more.

Furries, like I mentioned also the DD/lg has become a big part of the lifestyle now. They were even talking about that at the last Dom meeting I attended at the club, That DD/lg has become a big part of the life.
